Default FSW Misery

Well, after reviewing THE 'recently updated' LIST my partner and I are feeling a little deflated. We were hoping to apply as we are both qualified architects and have been keen on emigrating for some considerable time now.

After studying these forums and the CIC website we are at a bit of a loss as to how we should progress with our dreams of Canadian PR.

We have friends in Toronto who work for RBC and they have advised us to try and apply for temporary work either through IEC or by any other means and once we have made it over (if that ever happens) we would then be eligible after a while for something called CEC.

Does this seem about right or are there better ways of going about business?

Many thanks for your time if you've made it this far and condolences to those of you who are in the same boat as us.

Congrats to everyone who made it on the list!!

Sorry, don't be deflated there are 50 ways to Canada

IEC is a working holiday visa for UK citizens up to 30 years of age, Irish 35.
One year and you can apply 2 times in total. You'd get an open work permit.

You could try to get an employer to apply for an LMO for you, once you got that you can get a TWP and then apply for PR as a FSW.

Or you can get an employer to go through the PNP program with you.

Or you can apply for PR under the CEC after one year of skilled work in Canada.

It all depends on the Province, your age etc.

Have a cuppa and read through the wiki http://britishexpats.com/wiki/Category:Canada

Sorry, I didn't edit your post, hit the 'edit' instead of 'quote' !!

Just wanted to add, that provided CIC receive the application prior to the applicants 31st birthday it doesn't matter whether it is activated after their 31st birthday.
