My husband and I are going through family sponsorship (my widowed mum , Canadian citizen with dual nationality) and we are ready to send off the forms.
IMM5669e section 11 asks details of for "Military and/or paramilitary service".
The table on the form has six rows, and the third row asks for "Branch of service, unit numbers and names of your commanding officers"
My husband served in the Royal Navy for 37 years, but retired over ten years ago. His employment and address details are only required for the previous ten years, but there is no mention how much detail would we be expected to write for his military service?
He has served on more than 6 ships in his career, and can't remember who the commanding officers were... on some ships there were two or three Captains during his service! Are they just talking about the First Sealord?

I tend to think that service in the Royal Navy HM Forces UK and not knowing Commanding Officers names will not be a problem.
Just fill in what you can or attach a brief note attached to the IMM 5669 explaining service details.
