Default Follow up process - Mr Miller, other experts help pls!

Our interview was waived and our family had our medical tests last April 2002. It was stated on the letter that we can expect a reply after 4 mos from medical date. So that would be around Aug. However, to date.. we have not recd any reply from the embassy. We made our first f-up last September. However they said our papers are in the review queue and because of the large volume of application recd by their ofc, they cannot reply to our inquiry.

How soon can we f-up again.? I am just afraid that our visa might arrive too late given the fact that we only have a year to leave (counting from medical date), thus our deadline is April 2003. I have heard a lot of friends getting their visas too late...like 2 wks before the deadline.. and the last one i heard, is 2 days before the deadline. I just dont want this to happen to us... there will surely be a lot of preparations needed to migrate to a new country. Can i do my f-up every month? Anyway.. i did my first f-up via email.

One more qn. What is the next step i should expect? will they ask for our passports to have our visas stamped? Or is the visa in a form of security paper to be sent to our mailing address?
Pls help.

You didn't say which visa post your case is processed in, what is your
nationality and what countries you've resided in. All of that is relevant when
it comes to background/security check which is the only task left to be
concluded after you've done your medicals. In some cases such task takes just
few months while in others well over a year and many applicants must undergo
new medicals when background/security check is not completed within validity of
first medicals.

Next step after all tasks are completed and final decision made is request for
passports to be forwarded to visa post - PR visas will be then affixed in your
passports.

Thanks Mr Miller for your prompt response!

I applied in Philippine Can. embassy. My family and I have lived in the Phil all our lives.

So far, most of the applicants here were able to leave within a year from medical date. I just wanna make sure that everything will be in order and within timeframe .
