fingerprint not legible, now what?
While My fingerprints cameback from FBI with a clean record, My
spouse's finger print that was sent to the FBI was not legible. So far
we sent her finger prints to the FBI on two ocassions, but the finger
print was not legible for use.
and now she has got a memo from FBI which states as follows:
"IT IS OUR UNDER STANDING THAT CANADIAN AUTHORITIES MAY ALLOW
ALTERNATIVE MEASURES IN CASES WHERE LEGIBLE FINGERPRINT IMMPRESSIONS
ARE DIFFICULT TO OBTAIN. WE SUGGEST YOU CONTACT THE OFFICE HANDLING
YOUR CASE RESIDENCY APPLICATION FOR CLARIFICATION."
Explaining the situation I sent a fax to the Canadian Consulate at
Buffalo last week (tried calling them, could not get through their
automated phone service-which gives no option that is remotely
relevant to such case or takes you to a real person in the information
desk!)
What to do now?
I do n't have an application number because I thought of sending all
paper works at one time, which is now pending resolving of this
matter.
Thanking you all.

You may want to contact your local police department and enquire if they
have some one who fingerprints the deceased. They usually will have means
to bring out the prints so that they are legible. If not, then you are
going to have to wait for instructions from Buffalo.

hi PMM
No word from buffalo consulate yet.
I might want to pursue the other option, by the way: is this service
('to bring out the prints so that they are legible') free?
very much appreciate your response.

Re: fingerprint not legible, now what?
I had the same problem exactly.
What I have been advised to do is get my fingerprints taken
electronicly. They use some kind of scanner...
Anyways, there are none in Ontario (My local Constable found out for me)
So I have to go to either the Port Huron Michigan Sherrif's Dept. or to the
US Border Patrol office at the Ambassador Bridge and have them done there.
Hope this helps you too!

Re: fingerprint not legible, now what?
Hmmm...I am not sure about this, but have you tried taking an
electronic fingerprinting, I guess I read it somwhere but not sure if
it will work for the purpose of CIC. Check about it though.
