Default Family Sponsorship (Turkey, Ankara visa office)

Hello everyone,

Does anybody know how long it will take to process family sponsorship
applications in Canada Visa Office in Turkey (Ankara)?

On their web site they say that it will take about 7 month to 1 year.
I sent my applications in January 2003 but still did not received
acknowledgment letter. ('E-Client Application Status' shows that
review process started on February 3rd 2003).

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

Levan.

If it is a spousal sponsorship then it may take 6 to 12 months, but if it is
a family class member other than spouse or dependent child then it may take
at least twice that long.

Thanks for your answer.

I am sponsoring my parents.
Is it normal that I still did not receive acknowledgment letter(It is
4 month already)?
I read that acknowledgment letter is sent within one month period.

Thanks again,

Levan.

It is not very common (although not impossible) to wait that long for AOR,
unless you submitted incomplete application and the package is being
returned to you.

Dear Andrew,

If application was incomplete (Highly unlikely) and they sent is back
to me, I had to have it here by this time. (What kind of postal
service are they using??).

I am afraid that AOR might got lost.

Will you suggest sending written request in visa office to re-send
AOR? and if yes, should I include another 'Authority to Release
Information to Designated Individuals'? (I already sent 'Authority to
Release Information' initially)

I also heard that 'CAIPS'; could provide more detailed information.
http://www.caips.ca/

Thanks again,

Levan.

You don't have AOR, thus you don't have file number - that means file hasn't
been created yet and there is nothing in CAIPS system to look at. You may
fax inquiry to Ankara asking if they received your application. Did you
check with the bank if draft sent with application for processing fees has
been cashed?

According to the 'e-Client application status', Visa Office Received
Application on January 20, 2003 and started reviewing it on February
03, 2003.

I sent the processing and ROLF fees with the 'Application to Sponsor
and Undertaking' (Last year). should not CIC have cashed it already?

If I fax inquiry to Ankara, Do I need to include new 'Authority to
Release Information [IMM 5476]' form?

Thank you,

Levan.

If you were able to access e-client then obviously you got file number and
everything is OK. If you paid all fees in the bank in Canada (using pink
receipt) then there is nothing to check and obviously case is in the process
as e-client indicates. It won't be concluded in few months for parents
though, more like couple of years or longer - thus be patient.

I access e-Client using Client Number that I received from CIC. (which
is in 3454-3323 format). Is this a file number? I thought file number
will be assigned by visa office.

Besides my parents I am also sponsoring my brother (Parents' dependent
child). He is 3rd year student. If process will take couple of years
or longer, Does it mean that officer will disqualify him as a
dependent child? (He will be graduated in 2 years)

Thank you,

Levan.

No, your brother should continue to be processed as dependant as his lock-in
date for his age is the date sponsorship application was received. This is
what Chapter OP1 of Immigration Manual says in Section 5.19 about lock-in
date:

------------------------------------------------------------
Family class: Lock-in (of age) is based on the day that the responsible Case
Processing Centre receives a sponsorship application. The documents
downloaded to CAIPS from the CPC will specify the lock-in date.
------------------------------------------------------------
