Extension to Work Permit.
Hi All,
We have had our medicals and paid RPRF.
We came here on an Intra Company Transfer and will have been here for 5 years in March which is when our TWP's expire.
I understand that there are now extensions for people in our situation. Does the 5 year rule not apply here? Do we just complete the 'extend your stay' application?
Thanks

Re: Extension to Work Permit.
Be aware of the maximum amount of stay on an ICT
Duration of stay:
Executives and Managers: initial maximum three years, unless office start-up (one year); two-year renewals allowable; total period of stay may not exceed seven years.
Specialized knowledge workers: initial maximum three years, unless office start-up (one year); two-year renewals allowable; total period of stay may not exceed five years.
Intra-company transferee duration of work permit limit
After intra-company transferees have reached their maximum work permit duration (seven years for executives and senior managers and five years for specialized knowledge workers), they must complete one year of full-time employment in the company outside Canada if they wish to re- apply as an intra-company transferee. This requirement, which exists in NAFTA, applies to all intra-company transferees, whether they enter under the IRPA general provisions of R205(a) or under international trade agreement provisions of R204(a). It also applies to foreign nationals who wish to switch from a work permit issued under R205(a) to a work permit issued under R204(a).

Re: Extension to Work Permit.
My husband is a was brought over as a Manager so maybe we would be eligible for the 7 years?
I have just read Operational Bulletin 485a and although I would not be immediately eligible for an open work permit (as a spouse, could get one once my husband has his and it is for over 6 months), it does not mention any time frames.
I am completely confused.
Tina

Sorry, I should have been more specific.
It would be a "bridging" Open Work Permit that we would be applying for

Re: Extension to Work Permit.
I emailed CIC on Monday with this same question.
This morning I received an email asking us to confirm our address and that our family composition has not changed because they want to issue our visas.
We didn't have to send photos or passport copies as they already have them on file.
Hopefully we are close to the end.
