Exactly when to do Medicals
Greetings,
Independent Skilled category. Buffalo post. Residing in USA.
Got the interview waiver and the medical forms.
However, the letter states not to do the medicals before 6 months.
The latter is dated 12th Dec. 2002.
Under the old laws, an applicant had 183 days to complete the medicals
from the date of the letter.
Is that still the case now?
If so, when should we do the medicals?
183 days is approx. 6 months, and the letter tells us *not* to do the
medicals for 6 months.
Another question: It has been suggested to me that those letters are
standard, boiler-plate letters, and that I can actually do the
medicals *before* 6 months to expedite the process. In case our
background/security checks are completed by then, it will work to our
advantage.
Any information appreciated.
Thanks

If you do the medicals *before* you were recommended to have them done,
then they are predicting they will expire before you get to Canada and
will have to redo them. Doing them early will not speed up the process
and if done too early will actually slow it down!

Re: Exactly when to do Medicals
There was no such thing as deadline for medicals established by the old law.
Medical always had to be done within time stated in the letter accompanying
medical forms. So, do your medicals as asked - not sooner than 6 months from
the date of the letter. Doing medicals sooner will not speed up anything, it
will only backlog the system further, so don't do it.

The letter says don't do the medicals for six months, so wait 6 months
earlier will not expedite your case and you may end up doing the medicals
again.
