Default employer specific visa

Hello.

My husband is a stone mason and has an employer specific visa.

He is also a fully qualified electrician. We are wondering if it is possible for him to change trades without it effecting our PR application. It has currently been in process for 13 months the average is 17 months. We have paid all fees and had medicals done. We would not like to have to start the process again or have to wait longer than we have to.

I have looked on the cic website and cannot find any information to confirm what we need or can do.

Maybe I can't see for looking, any help would be greatly appreciated

Emma

My suggestion would be to do nothing until you have your visas and are landed. Once landed a job change to a new employer would be possible in due course. I am assuming there is no real hurry.

Hi Jim thank you for the information.
my husband has been in Canada for just over a year. We followed in December 13. His current work permit runs out Oct 15, we were able to come over to Canada on the provincial nominee program for Saskatchewan we are hoping to have PR anytime soon. There are some issues with my husband's employer that I will not go into publicly, however if it was possible to change employer sooner rather than later without affecting our PR application which is hopefully soon complete. We would like to consider it. as I mentioned I have searched various websites and cannot find anything relevant.

Has he applied based on that employment, or separately? If the former, then he shouldn't risk changing jobs before PR.

HTH.

Yes that employment. We have come so far with the PR application it would be a Shame for it to be delayed any longer. I will tell him to bear with it and hopefully OR will be through soon. Thank you
