Default Education Points

I should have earned my BS degree in Computer Science from University
of North Texas this summer but I have to delay until my graduation in
January 2003 because of a financial reason.
If I get a job offer from a Canadian employer (with a positive review
from HRDC) and go ahead submit my application for PR before January
2003, will I get 20 points for my education?
I can furnish a letter from my dean of College arts and Scinces to
explain my situation.
Should I apply for that software Pilot project (If it is still exist)
or should I go ahead with PR (if I get a job offer).
Thank You

Sorry, but no degree/diploma = no points for it.

Do you mean you must offer the diploma? How if one does his defence for his
master`s, and get a letter from Graduate studies that he is finished his
master`s, but just waiting for his diploma conferring?

Until you defend your thesis and are awarded a Master's degree you simply don't
have it.

Not yet. I will do my defence in near future, but not already done. From our
dept, I got to know that after defence, graduate studies office can write a
letter stating that one is qualified for a master degree right away. But for
the piece of paper, in our school usually there are only two times for the
ceremony to confer it. And it takes long time.

So, in such case you don't have a degree yet and you will not get points for
it, sorry. You may not even get the degree...

I didnot ask you to give me a conclusion. Before I take the interview, I
will do my defence for sure.
Who said I may not even get the degree? Is you who will do my defence?

Default Re: Education Points

Miller, what do you mean by saying that "You may not even get the degree.."?
How could you judge something you even dont know it at all? Who give you the
title of Immigration Consultant? Suppose you officially are, who gives you
the right to judge a person that whether he can get the degree or not? Did
you ever attend the defence?

I always think a person should be very careful with his words if he does
something like consultant. Whatever he says, it must be reasonable and there
must be a lot of materials that supports his point of view, so what is your
supporting material, sir?

I have been in Canada for two years, and all of my Canadian classmates are
friendly and helpful. If I didnot misundertand that words, I can only say
that words are very absurd, and it can degrade you as a consultant. I am
sorry if there is any word offensive.

You already once (as you stated yourself) postponed your degree - so, how for
God's sake processing officer should now know that you won't do it again? Under
new law there may not even be an interview and law clearly states that
application will be assessed as submitted, period. What's the rush? Without a
degree you won't have points to qualify.

First of all - did I said that you'll fail your defense? Not - I said that you
may not get a degree because as you stated you already postponed it once for
"financial reasons". So, what is the guarantee that you won't do it again?

Second - I'm not "Miller" to you my friend. You claim to live and study in
Canada for 2 years and you didn't learn yet that it is very disrespectful to
call someone by last name only? I wouldn't give you a degree on that basis
alone... Call me Andrew or Mr. Miller or I will be forced to call you boy...

Default Re: Education Points

Please make sure that I am not the person who posted the first post that he
has some financial reasons.

To postpone the date for defence is very normal since different people did
different poject and the time line to fabricate the design are also
different. The time line is different between doing a M.Eng and a M.A.Sc in
some school. Say, in our school, for M.Eng, two year is long enough, while
for M.A.Sc, almost all of the students who did the same complicate project
spent about 2.5 years. I wrote that much in case you dont know it.

Keep in mind that always be careful with the words and be encouraging. say,
when you drive to your office, I bet you dont like words like this, "Nothing
can guarantee you wont have an accident and die." Right? Always bear best
wishes for other people.

Secondly I once read your post something like that you are wondering why
asian people are ashamed of using their own names.... I dont agree with
that. I am from Asia and used english name too. What is the reason? I am
very proud of my chinese name which means proming, but unforunately, most of
english spoken people cannot pronouciate it correctly, and always couldnot
remember possibly because of the huge gap between the cultures. People from
middle east seldom change their names, and I guess it is because their
language is a little bit similar with english, say, some of the
pronounciation, some of the grammer.Nobody would be ashamed of being
himself, otherwise he is an idiot.
