Sorry if this question has already been answered.

When applying for my ECA do I need to pay the company I'm using first or can I send of for my grades before that?

Can you clarify what you mean by 'send off for your grades'? Do you mean transcripts for your degree/diploma, or getting exam certs?

I havent got a degree but was going to send off for my school, college and nvq cert

You don't have them already? In which case, if you need to request them from the examining body's, you wouldn't have to pay until you actually submit them for the ECA.

Not sure what you've got from college, but just in case you're not aware you're unlikely to get anything for your NVQ as they're usually vocational rather than academic (only academic qualifications count for points purposes).

I do have my school cert but from what I have read I need to apply to examing body so they can send it direct to company for assessment.

I have a BTEC qualification from college.

It's only transcripts that need to be sent directly from the examining body, you send a copy of the certs yourself.
