Hi,
I received an ITA about three weeks and am just at the stage of attaching my documents. According to the instructions found at this link Apply – Skilled immigrants (Express Entry) it says the document checklist will tell me what I need (pasted below):
"When you have completed the application, the system will generate a personalized Document Checklist for you. It will show all the supporting documents you need to upload.
In the case of work experience and police certificates, it will show each employer and country you need to get documents from. For the police certificates, there will only be one upload field so be sure to include them all together."
However now I'm on that page, I'm a little confused.
It is asking for 9 different employment records. When I click inside, it doesn't tell me which employer it is asking for and just provides an upload link. However I have only had 5 different employers in the last 10 years (I worked seasonally for one employer for 4 years so perhaps that's why there are 9 links).
It also says against police certificates that multiple are needed. I thought this was only the case if you have been in another country other than Canada for 6 months or more. Discounting Canada, I've only been in the UK. I have travelled but never for more than 4 months - the checklist doesn't tell me which countries it wants certificates for.
Do you think this is a situation where I should be reporting a technical fault? I am so confused by this as I thought it would actually tell me which documents it is looking for.
Has anyone else gone through this?
Thanks!
PS I have gathered letters from all employers etc already and have a UK police certificate already, I just want to ensure I haven't missed anything

HI
1. Remember if your total stay since 18 is 6 months or more in a country, you need a PCC, it doesn't have to be a consecutive 6 months. For example, if you have travailed to the US for 4 trips of 2 months each, you would need an FBI certificate.

In general, you and all the people in your family who are 18 or older need to get a police certificate.
You may need a police certificate from any country or territory that you have spent six months or more since the age of 18.
For example: if you visited, worked or lived in a country for two months, left for a few years, then returned for four months, that counts as spending six months there. In this case, you would need a certificate.

- are currently living there, or received the police certificate before leaving, the police certificate must be issued within six months before you apply.
- have lived there in the past, the police certificate must be issued after you last lived in that country or territory.

I relation to your employment records if you have entered the employer in the work experience section of the application it will ask for a reference letter for them.
If you do not need/gain any points from that employer you can remove them from the work experience section and add them to the personnel history. This way you do not need the letters.

Hi PMM,
Thanks for this. I had read this information previously but had discounted it as I can't figure out any country that I've been in for more than 6 months other than the UK and Canada even from the age of 18. The instructions specifically state that if a police certificate is required for Canada then I'll be informed. It is all very strange. I did work in France for 3 months - again, I've calculated and added holidays and it still doesn't reach anywhere near 6 months. I have decided to apply for a French background check anyway. I've spent 20 weeks in Australia too and while that isn't 6 months, I wonder if I ought to back that up too with a background check too?
Thanks again!

@Engineer_abroad
Good to know!! I'll have a look at the history there as well because I think I've put all jobs, even unskilled temp jobs for the last 10 years. I'll see if I can switch things around. :-)

Def take the unskilled work out. You won't get points and chances are you will struggle to get reference letters with any bar/retail work as turn over is high in those sort of areas

Hi Powderbabe - did you figure out why you had multiple Police Certificate records to fill?
