Default Do I need to replace stolen pr card?

Im sorry if this has been posted previously..I did search but could not find the information I need.

My permanent resident card was stolen last night (I had not realised I did not need to carry this with me).
The pr card expires in August 2016 and we are expecting word of our citizenship exam anytime soon...we applied April 2014.

Do I need to inform cic of it being stolen and have it replaced (even if I am not leaving the country)?....or do I not need to have it replaced whilst waiting on citizenship?

Thanks in advance.

One would assume CIC need notifying that the PR card is stolen. normally you would hand in your PR card at the citizenship ceremony. As to if you actually need a PR card replacement I would be asking CIC and telling them you expect to be called for the citizenship ceremony soon.

Would it count as identity theft?

In which case, it should also be reported to the police, if you have not already done this.

update:
I called police station and reported card stolen.....police officer visited me and took report of incident.

I called cic and had to complete solemn declaration of stolen pr card but unless I plan to travel I do not need to replace my stolen pr card (my passport is expired so I will not be travelling)

Report it, you have to return your PR card after your Citzenship exam , during the interview. they will ask for it, so report it and get a replacement beofre you sit the exam.

Good luck

You've been here since 2004, the OP since 2010, myself since 1982.

I've never had a PR card (although I became a PR on two different occasions) and when I took citizenship in IIRC 2006, when asked I explained I didn't have one.

Times change.
