Distance learning Masters Degree
Hi all,
I saw some info on a message board today which started a panic :scared:
I've trawled everywhere I can already to find a definitive answer but it looks a bit dodgy - can anyone help??
We have applied under Skilled Worker London, and we have 72 points - BUT - I've given us 25 points for my Masters Degree and 17 years of education.
13 years of school - including A levels
3 year BEng Degree - University of Surrey, Civil Engineering
1 year "equivalent" for my MA, gained over 3 years by part-time distance learning from the University of Sheffield
The MA is the bit I'm worried about, I've seen comments saying "correspondence courses are invalid", and "distance learning doesn't count".
Mine is from an accredited UK University (not a dodgy degree shop ), and today I've requested a letter from the university confirming that the degree is the same as if I had done it full time in one year. I'll send it to CHC as soon as I get it to update the file.
Do I have anything to worry about??

Section 10.2 details education and it states:
A distance learning credential is eligible for points as long as it meets the definition of a credential as outlined in R73. If the credential is not described in terms of number of years duration (i.e., three- year Bachelor’s degree), officers should apply the definition of full-time equivalent study and knowledge that the visa office has acquired on local education institutions and credentials.
Don't ask me what R73 is but it is looking very good for you.
