Can anyone help with this enquiry...

Me and the GF are thinking of moving to Canada to work for a few years. We're both graduates, professionals, in decent health, no dependants, etc.

However, in 2000 I got arrested for doing something silly and got what is called a 'fiscal fine' in Scotland. That is to say, I was not nor have I ever been convicted of a criminal offence.

Is this going to be an issue when filling out the necessary forms?

Order a police cert if it comes back with no trace then there's nothing to declare to immigration

Hi All
I have been reading all these posts regarding spent convictions RHAB 1974.
I sent away for a police certificate and it came back with no live trace i have privious convictions for assault /theft/GBH but they are all spent, last police encounter 1988.
My question is this can i go to live and work in canada,???? and how i go about achieving this aim.....?? Thanks

You WILL have to declare this to CIC, they no what No LIVE TRACE means and if you submit an application along with this certificate they will ask you for further details. It's better to submit all of this up front. If your sentances were less than 2.5 years of jail then they are covered under ROA and you will no longer be inadmissible to canada. You should submit a rheab application detailing all your offences and sentances and dates. Check the box that says for information only and mail it to CHC london they will write back telling you wether you need any rehabilitaion. By checking for information only it will only cost you the postage. Then you can attach a copy of this letter to any application, or if you arrive at a canadian POE you can show it to the CBSA officer

question guys:

In 2003 I had an accident while I was driving a car. I hit a person on the street and I was convicted for that to 4 months and 8 days of parole. I wasn't drinking or speeding, It was just an accident. Do I have to apply for Criminal Rehabilitation for that?

Cheers

Yes, if you were convicted & sentenced.

Thank you for your answer. I would like to say that I didn't go to prison. (Sorry but I'm not sure if I explained it properly).

The thing is that I didn't know I had a conviction as the court never notified me about that. I have already done the medicals and I have to explain to CIC about why I didn't declare that conviction.

Cheers
