I'm sorry you've received disappointing news, jonnychester.
I believe that applying for Criminal Rehabilitation will add about a year to your application process.

But I'm sorry, you'd be bonkers to apply at POE. Andrew Miller, who is an immigration consultant and who frequently posts here, advises against applying at POE even under normal circumstances. See the Wiki article called TWP : Where to apply.

I'm really glad it took markan only 40 days to get clearance. That's very encouraging feedback.

Jonny Google NACRO,telephone them explaining you need to know if your convictions are considered SPENT under The UK Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. If so they will forward you confirmation of this if you ask nicely. If you are adamant of doing the POE route this could be helpful. But the experts dont seem to reccomend this way, so if your covictions are considered spent your other option is to apply for DEEMED rehabilitation on the web site www.cic.gc.ca press search on this site and type rehabilitation. You should find all relative information there.

Re: criminal record
Does anyone know, if you have been arrested in order to be questioned, but not convicted/charged, will this show up on police checks?
