COURIER SERVICE for Passport
Hi,
I am in Japan and have been asked to send passports to Manila,
Philippines by COURIER. Now, I have contacted many renowned courier
services like FEDEX, DHL, UPS YAMATO in Japan but none of them is
agreed to accept the passports. I am still trying but highly skeptical
about finding out one. My question is if I don't find one may I send
them by EMS (Emergency Mail Service)? Will it be acceptable?
Mr. Miller, would you kindly answer my question.

Re: COURIER SERVICE for Passport
Are you saying that these couriers will not accept a passport for shipment
by their services? Why did you ask that question? I have sent mine
overseas on occasion without problems. WHat exactly did the letter form the
embassy say?

You're not sending a PASSPORT, you're sending a PACKAGE. As long as
it's not dangerous or illegal, the courier companies have no right or need
to know what you're sending, so you don't have to tell them. If a customs
declaration form is required, you just write 'printed papers' on it. You're
not lying, because a passport does consist of printed papers.
Just get one of their envelopes, put it in and away you go.

The letter from embassy said - "you must send your passport by
COURRIER". Does it mean I can't send it by registered speed post such
as EMS.
