Default count years of work experience?

A simply math question,

2 year 4 months (company 1) plus 8 months (company 2) plus 1 year 1 month (current company) work experience in the same occupation, will be acounted as 4 years, OR 3 years? It appears that, if only experience of >= a year will be acounted, then 2Y4M is 2 years, 8 months will be 0 year, 1Y1M will be 1 year, makes only 3 years.

Could anyone shed light on this?

It should be 4 years, if the jobs were similar in scope of duties and
responsibilities.

Thanks for reply. The duties are same (at least similar), I jumped from one to another because of higher salary and better prospect. Well, I am currently seeing if I can land a job in Canada, it seems not that difficult for me.

Thanks for your reply to my another thread regarding my education, it is pity that I can not qualify without at least 1 year Canadian experience, even with Master from Oxford.

Hi! How come the jobs have to similar in duties? I thought the type of job does not matter, as long as it`s in the job list CIC approves.

its a mindset... people who jump jobs are looked on as not having a commitment to the job, because of their frequent job jumping.. and as such at times... short stints (except when such short stint was contractual) are looked at with suspicion because the there could be underlying reasons for the short durations (didnt get along with coworkers so he quit etc)... thats why a lot of people round off the months part to the lower half year when calculating experience...

but for immigration purposes.. if the jobs had similar duties, then the months would be counted..
