Confirmation of PR paper question

Confirmation of PR paper question
I just got my passport stamped by the LA consulate , along with the visa stamping i recieved a piece of paper called Confirmation of PR .Among other things like name , DOB etc it has a item marked
39. Remarks
Funds: C$ 38000
I wonder what this sub item actually means , do i have to carry equivalent of 38000$ while landing???
Also my visa and Conf of PR document says it expires in Sep , but as far as i recall my Medical was done in June/July 2002 adding 1 year means it would expire before Sep .. Do i have to worry about it or the date on my visa determines the validity of my medical ???
Thanks in Advance

Re: Confirmation of PR paper question
No, you don't have to carry $38,000 with you - only the minimum amount of
settlement fund as required. But be prepared for questions about the rest of
the money - you may (or may not) be asked about it as the amount you
declared may (or may not) have been a factor in determining your abilities
to succeed in Canada, thus affecting the final decision.

Re: Confirmation of PR paper question
Dude,
When you applied, you filled out a box outlining how much money you would
bring when you came to Canada. I think they just put that amount on your
landing papers. In my case, it was the amount I put ($28K). I had mine
issued from LA too, and I dunno if only LA does this. (They didn't ask me
squat at the border). YMMV, of course.
Cheers!

No, this indicates what you provided in the application for permanent
residence relative to settlement funds. What you want to do is provide
evidence of the funds in terms of bank statements, bank drafts, etc.

The date of the visa is the critical factor however make sure you are
reading the items correctly, if the visa expires before you are landed
then you have to start the process all over again. If you want to
remove any concerns and given you obtained your visa if LA you might
want to effect your landing before June simply for peace of mind.

Re: Confirmation of PR paper question
When preparing the application forms, do you think whether proving a
larger amount will get more chance than the minimum required amounts
to get the application approved or it doesn't matter as long as
meeting the required amounts? Thank you.
