It can do, or it can take 11 months! There's no set time frame I'm afraid, so I really wouldn't worry yet.

Medicals can take much longer than 3 or 4 months and there is also the fact that background checks required before visas can be issued may take longer than that. They are done in parallel with the medicals in most cases.

I would have thought that it will be much faster, We have been in Canada for over one year now on work Permit, So have completed 1 set of Background check already for work Permit to be issued, well i guess the background check for PR will be more extensive..

They don't do a background check for TWP do they?

Unfortunately, we've seen a few people on the forum recently not receive PR until their medicals were about to expire (cue a mad dash to Canada to land in time!), there really is no way of telling if you'll be lucky and get them soon or have to wait until much later in the year.

for you.

We completed our Medicals in September 2010 and we have only just been given our Passport Requests today. It has been an anxious wait, but a lot of other people seem to be in the same boat as us.

Yeah - I too completed my medicals on September 9th 2010 and sent final VISA payment on return from vacation in Toronto on October 27th 2010 (Royal Mail Special Delivery) - I'm anxiously still waiting for my Passports to be requested :/

But if Lady Locketts experience is anything to go by - I shouldn't have to wait too much longer.

Lady L - can I just check how you knew when your medical had been processed?

Mark

I wouldnt go boasting about that onthe March - April AOR thread if I was you. Some of us have been waiting just a tad longer.

And definatley not on the pre 2007 thread.

Significant delays as I mentioned above are often the result of lengthier background checks.

We didn't know when our medicals had been processed. As my hubby is in the medical field, and we knew the people doing our x-rays and checkups, we did know when they had finished and sent the reports. However after their review, someone independent also reviews it, so we had no idea when that would be done. Just luck of the draw I guess.

I do feel for everyone who applied prior to the new FSW system and have been waiting months or even years between updates. I can't imagine what that is like. I have found it frustrating enough to have been told our process would only be 6-9 months, and discovered the reality is somewhat different! Good luck to everyone waiting.

I checked with my Bank yesterday and they confirmed that the Landing fee draft issue has been cashed even though we have not heard anything after completeing our medical. Am sure they cashing the Landing fee draft must be a good thing right ?.
