Default Celpip writing.

Good afternoon,
my wife and I are currently trying to apply for EE. We have both attempted CELPIP. My wife’s scores weren’t quite good enough in the writing area 8. I got a 9.
She has done lots of studying and has paid an examiner to mark her work. However the examiner seems to adding more complex things she needs to do to get above the 8. I know I never wrote as complicated as she is asking my to and I got an 9.
Any advise would be appreciated. I’ve attached a picture of what we were advised.

Who's the principal applicant and what are they scoring on the CRS, I'm assuming they are borderline on points if you're trying to just get one extra CLB level? When will the principal applicant lose points due to getting older/having a birthday?

My wife is the principle. Her birthday isn’t for 7 months so should be ok.

And what's her current score? How old will she turn in 7 months?

Her score are 12l 12r 9s 8w. Our crs scores are 385 I believe but if the go to 9s it will be 444 and 10s it’s 447.
Were just trying to see if this examiner is steering us in the right direction. Like I said I never wrote as fancy as that example but got an 9 whereas the examininer believes the writing sbove is only an 8.

That's why I questioned it - I don't see how her points would go up that much, so I don't see why she'd bother worrying about it unless she's borderline (which at 385 she's not). How do you get her points going up by 59 points for one extra CLB level?

Because the 10point adds points to both her education and her language score. Im
not sure how it does it but it does.

CLB Level 10 will get more, but CLB Level 9 won't add as much - I can't see how you'd get an extra 59 points for that. But if you think she can get to Level 10 then it's worth a try, personally I'd take the examiners advice as you've presumably paid for it and they must know what they're doing. She can take the test as many times as she likes though, just be aware that even if she can get Level 10's across the board and score 444, depending on her age she'll potentially lose more points when she has a birthday so she'll need to get cracking so you have entered the EE pool and received an ITA before that date.

Good luck.

Not really, it's all fairly basic grammar so she should be fine if she's a native English speaker. It's definitely picky, but that's what the examiner is there for I guess!

The extra level to CLB9 can make a big difference as you can score significantly more on transferability by having all 4 competencies at minimum CLB9.

She’s already CLB Level 7, so already scoring 25 for that, hence why I queried it. If she’s on 385 then getting to CLB 9 won’t be enough, she will need 10’s across all 4 to get the extra for language ability too.

Hi you can get more on transferability if all 4 competencies are at CLB9 or above. More than you get with all 4 at CLB7+ but with one or more under CLB9.

Yep, but only 25 more points right? And a few extra for language ability. So still not enough for the OP's wife to get an ITA if she's on 385 now. But if she can get 10+ across the board then she'll get those 25 points, plus quite a few more for her language ability, so those extra points combined might just be enough.
