Which Category & Other Questions
Hi Folks,
I'm currently considering applying for immigration to Canada, specifically
PEI. At the moment I'm basically evaluating the 'pros & cons' of such a
move. Having spent some time there in the past, I feel it would offer me a
better 'quality' of life and standard of living. The surroundings also
appeal to me and work well for the industry and type of work I do.
I am currently self-employed and work on a freelance basis with a regular,
ongoing income that I will continue to receive should I make the move. One
of the critical aspects of this decision is knowing that I can make the move
with a regular income more or less guaranteed. Basically, I develop web
applications that I then offer for lease. The ongoing leases therefore
provide my monthly income, which should increase month by month.
Therefore, I'm curious as to which category I would fall in to when
applying. I want to continue doing things the way I do now - which is
basically just myself, although I suspect I may wish to hire a personal
assistant on a part-time basis if/when I make the move.
On a more logistical front, from what I can tell a British Drivers Licence
cannot be transferred to a Canadian one. Therefore, I would assume this
means I would need to apply for a Canadian one seperately? Also, am I
correct in thinking I could legally drive for 'x' number of months using my
British Licence? My understanding is that this period starts from the date
you come into the country, therefore if I was to periodically visit
overseas, would this term then restart when I came back to Canada?
Finally, how easy would it be to obtain a mortgage when first landing? What
level of deposit would be required typically if this was possible?
Sorry for all the questions, and thanks for bearing with me here ;-)
