Default Canadian Immigration Points

Hi, I've been searching for an answer for this everywhere but can't seem to find anything. But long story short; my half-brother has been living in Canada for 3 years now (Now a permanent resident), I've been wanting to go out there for quite some time now to work and live with my bro, only I've put it off due to caring for my mother who has had breast cancer, I was wandering if this will affect me in the future if I wish to obtain PR status due to the last question in the points calculator being :

"Have you or any of your immediate family had any serious health problems?"

chances are looking slim for my mum lasting the year and in this eventuality I want nothing more than to go live with my half-brother. Going out there on a working visa should not be a problem but if I wanted to stay out there I'm guessing this could be a problem?

Hi, and welcome to BE.

It shouldn't be a problem at all, it's really only asking about any family that you'd take with you, and would only be relevant if a family member was medically inadmissible (i.e. has a disease that is a danger to public health or will cost the Canadian healthcare system more than approx $6k a year).

HTH and sorry to hear about your Mum.
