Canadian Health Care

Well I have seen a couple of post's on this subject. First let me say I had to wait
3 1/2 hours to get an xray done the other day, 3 months for a MRI, and 5 months to
see a specialist. I have been suffering with this condition ( which they still do
not know what it is ) for almost a year. I may have paid more for my coverage back
in the US, but this would have been taken care of long ago. And during all this, the
pain has gotton to where I have to take tylenol #3 for pain, but now after 2 months
my dr does not want me to take, I say fine fix the problem I would not need them.
Tells me to take advil. Yea right, they never have done any good. So now I go to
work and thru life in pain that makes walking even 1 block almost unbearable. I just
pray I can continue working while I wait for the wonderful Canadian Health Care
System to treat me.

Here in the US it sacks too. I have the same problem as you do and it took the same
time to do the same things. I find the system here extremly unaccessible and bad - I
haven't seen such a shit system anywere I've been and I've been in quite a few
countries for long enough time to know. And the ****ers here tend to recommend
unnecessary procedures so if you don't know about your condition you better make sure
you learn something to have some control over the threatment. It's sad if Canada goes
into the US way of healthcare..

I'd be flippant and ask you if you're a member of a HMO (commercial version of the UK
National Health Service) but even those in PPO's are seeing deteriorating health
service in the US.
http://cnn.com/ALLPOLITICS/time/1999/01/25/hmos.html
A decade ago, traditional fee-for-service was the norm in the US. Now, less than 10%
in the US have it and it is considered elite coverage for corporate VP's. The 25% in
PPO's (hybrid of traditional and HMO) are seeing erosion of their coverage to HMO
level at the bottom end of carriers.

Mine is POS - can use HMO and PPO providers and pay accordingly. I couldn't find a
doctor to see me quickly even though I was so desparate I wanted to pay cash in full.
When it comes to pain management they do nothing - they left me suffer and refused to
prescribe stronger medecines. Now after the court set up an precedent I'm talking to
my lawyer to sue them for refusal of treatement and I'll go to the end of it.
