Generally, you can earn good money in Europe compared with Canada. It also
has some great cities.

Canada is "nice". Beautiful countryside and close to the US for small
excursions (wouldn't want to spend anymore time there than that.)

When people tell you (if they do) that Canada has one of the best (or the
best) nation health service in the world, they maybe correct, but that does
not mean it isn't badly underfunded and in need of reform.

Can't really easily compare. They are too different in too many ways and
similar in others. I think essentially it's an individuals own experience
that counts. You may go to somplace in Germany for a few weeks and have the
best time of your life and then never be able to stop thinking about it and
want to go back. On the otherhand you may turn up in Canada and get fined
for speeding, then not be able to find a nice place to live for the money
you can aford, and then get ripped off by someone etc etc, making you feel
you never want to go back. Or it could all happen the other way around. I
know people who love the UK and would never leave, I also know people from
the UK who constantly dream of getting out. who knows whats best for you?

And depending on your lifestyle, that good money disappears just as
easily.

Beautiful countryside ... hmmmm ... I thought lots of Europe was
beautiful too.

If they tell you that, they have their head in the sand. It is
generally a good service, but it is not what it was even 10 years ago,
and is slipping fast, just like the UK. The US healthcare system will
produce better healthcare, if you can afford it. If you can't you might
as well be in a 3rd world country.

What exactly are you looking for. You might plan a trip to canada for
3 weeks or so and explore and draw your own conclusions.

The US health care sucks: they are slow to get to see you and on a visit they
are _fast_ to get rid of you. You have to read _a lot_ and _know_ about your
condition and ask questions about any doctors suggestions or you are screwed !
Doctors here are _not_ concerned with your health but they do business and
try to sell expensive procedures, most of the time unnecessary. US doctors
are notorious to suggesting _times_ more operations that doctors in the rest
of the world. Dentists are the worst !
In general US is not the place to get ill - I've witnessed how a prolonged
medical condition can dramatically and completely change one's social status
like in no other place on Earth.

Let me reiterate what I said ... because you've misunderstood ... with a
bit of clarification.

Your comments certainly apply to some doctors and some dentists, but it
is a broad generalization that often does not apply. We have had some
excellent caring doctors while in the US who did not fit the mould you
describe.

In terms of being medically savvy, this is an historic thing in N.
American medicine ... not just the US. It's a significantly different
picture from the UK where you, the patient are not expected to know
ANYTHING, and many doctors like to keep it that way.

If you have the money / insurance, you can get EXCELLENT medical care in
the US. If you don't have money, your care is likely to be poor to
non-existent. If you don't know how the system works, you do stand a
greater chance of getting the kinds of doctors you mention. Remember
that as a patient, you have the right to go to other doctors - if you
can afford it.

Canada, on the other hand, has a reasonable primary care system, but
things start falling apart when you need surgery or specialist care.

If you can handle these situations then come on over:

1) -20 celcuis for at least 4 months of the year.
2) know how to use jumpers cables
3) Wait a min. of one hour to see a doctor
4) Like Ice hockey
5) Must spend one day at Calgary Stampede along
with a free pancake breakfast
6) Unlike the EU, no mention in the bible of Canada getting nuked
7) You actually beleive the government cares about you
8) Paying the highest taxes in the western world
9) No Soccer games
10) This is the Big One, NO COMPANY WILL ACCEPT YOUR CREDENTIALS
