Default Can you enter Canada with just an LMO?

There seems to be mixed opinions on whether you can enter Canada with just an LMO or whether or not to wait for a work permit to be issued by the Canadian embassy in London. Has anybody been accepted with just an LMO? I don't want to get there and be put back on a plane to not be allowed into the country again but the job I have is supposed to start on Saturday. Does anyone know what reasons they would give for being denied entry with just an LMO? If I had proof of credentials etc. with me would this work? Or does anyone know a good way of being able to speak to an officer within the Canadian embassy in London - email address or phone number? It seems to be a nightmare embassy to get hold of. Any help is much appreciated!!!!

Assuming your job doesn't require a medical and you are not a live-in caregiver or seasonal agricultural worker, you can apply for a TWP at the POE:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/ap...ible.asp#enter

See the link to 'Medical examination...' for more info on that.

If the positive LMO has been issued and you hold a passport that does not require a TRV then you can apply for a TWP at the POE when you arrive in Canada and pay the $150 processing fee. Reg 198(1)&(2) IRPA as found here

Thank you for your help. I would require a medical as it is a teaching job. However if I pre-empt this and got a medical (from the embassy's panel of physicians) before I flying and took this with me would they still issue a temporary work permit at point of entry?

Although for the medical it says primary secondary teachers or those working with small children.

The job isn't in a primary or secondary school. But how small is small?

Have a look at the last paragraph under "Medical Examinations" and also section 5.23 (second column) of this:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resourc...w/fw01-eng.pdf

It seems you can still apply at a POE if you have valid medical results available.

Perhaps it is better to be safe than sorry in this case, after all - you wouldn't want to get to the port of entry as you say and then turned away.

Jobs for which you need a medical examination

Depending on your intended occupation while in Canada, certain temporary foreign workers are required to undergo a medical examination. The following list provides examples of such occupations. This list is not all-inclusive.
1.Occupations that bring you into close contact with people, namely: ◦workers in the health sciences field
◦clinical laboratory workers
◦patient attendants in nursing and geriatric homes
◦medical students admitted to Canada to attend university
◦medical electives and physicians on short-term locums
◦teachers of primary or secondary schools or other teachers of small children
◦domestics
◦workers who give in-home care to children, the elderly and the disabled
◦day nursery employees

2.Agricultural workers from designated countries or territories.

If you are uncertain about whether you need a medical examination, please contact the visa or immigration office where you are making, or have made, your application.

My understanding is the form has to be issued to have medical. That is what happened for me as a nurse
