I have the opportunity to purchase a small resort/campground in Ontario to run as a
family business. I love Canada and this area.....I view this as a very positive
lifestyle change for my family.

I have sufficient assets to purchase the business outright and to support myself
until it begins generating income.

Question: Is there any way to live in Ontario during the lengthy immigration process?
I will only buy this place if I can live and work the there. It appears as thought
the immigration process could take up to 2 years. I can not buy the place and wait
two years to move there.

You can't work in Canada if you are not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or a
holder of valid Employment Authorization. Depending on your citizenship
(particularly if you are a US citizen) you may have some options for simplified EA
process. Also if you are a US citizen then immigration process may take well under
12 months, not 2 years.

You may qualify as a treaty trader or invester under NAFTA in the initial instance
and therfore you could qualify an Employment Authorization. In addition there are
privisions for camp operators etc..

I think you will require an advisor in these matters
