Hi...
Just checking to see if anyone with AOR in July 2003, skilled worker category, has received assessment from Buffalo?

As far as I know, lots of people applied in May, 2003 and got AOR in July 2003 have received their initial assessment result.

Re: Buffalo: Any July 03 AORs received assessment?
My AOR date is July 24, 2003.
I'm a bit concerned about receiving my assessment now because I'd be leaving for Canada in June on student visa and I am worried that I would miss the assessment letter during my move.
I already have an apartment secured in Canada and I intend to inform CIC Buffalo of an address change a week prior to my move. I have read somewhere that sometimes it takes time for CIC to acknowledge the address change.
Any advise, or cautions?

Hi zinc65,
Could you, please, tell us how easy / hard it was for you to obtain a
student visa to Canada since you probably had to disclose that you have PR
application in process?
Thank you in advance. If you'd like you can e-mail me directly your answer.

AOR= Acknowledgement Of Receipt
Oh god, it would be nice if some ppl could abandon these abbreveations,
would save time for others, this forum is not for immigration professionals
who use this lingo but an informational newsgroup to help each other out.

Re: Buffalo: Any July 03 AORs received assessment?
I received my assessment yesterday. It was postmarked April 22, 2004. It appears CIC Buffalo is up to speed with processing. My application took about 9 months to be assessed.
It took 4 weeks for CIC Buffalo to issue me a student visa. The fact that I had an application for permanent residency did not pose a problem at all, and to be honest, I indicated on my student visa application that I had applied for permanent residency under skilled worker since the application form required to state if you have applied for visa in Canada before.
Based on my experience I do not think applying for visa when PR is in process will pose a problem. I was advised by the experts in this forum that it will not be a problem, and in fact it never was a problem.

Thank you very much, zinc65, for your detailed reply. It is very helpful to
know. I am planning to apply for a work permit to Buffalo while my PR is in
process.
Best regards,
EK

Re: Buffalo: Any July 03 AORs received assessment?
The fact that you have applied for a PR visa in itself is not grounds for refusal of a temporary visa. If the visa officer feels that you are not a risk for illegally staying in Canada after the end of your temporary status (should the application be refused), they will issue you the visa.

I got an initial assessment last Thursday, postmarked April 19th. This was
also from a July 2003 AOR.
