Border Posts

Hello: I have recently got my immigration papers. I applied from within canada while
I was working. I am in ottawa and need to go to the nearest border post to validate
my PR status. I have a few question to you ?
1) Do I need an american visa for that ? I know earlier people were just driving down
to the post and getting thier PR validated. But in lie of the recent sep11
developments, will I be requiring a US visa for getting my PR validated ? Has
anyone of you gone thru this recently ?
2) I have nor clue when/where these posts operate ? Are there certain border posts
that do this or any ? Can I go on a weekend ? There is no information on the web
about this/operation hours etc.
I would really appreciate your reply. I just have a few days left.
cheers, JK.

You dont need a US visa. Just show up on the US side and tell INS or customs agent
you need to turn around to validate you PR papers, they know they the scene.

From Ottawa take highway 16 south to 401 I believe there's a border post near
that junction.

It's actually highway 416 now. It's approximately an 80 km drive down to the 401. And
yes, there is a port of entry just south of highway 401 in Prescott, ON.
