Default Best way to move stuff from the US to Canada

Greetings,

Can anyone share ideas, experience on moving their belongings from the US to
Canada, and what is the best way to do so.

Is it better to hire a mover or do-it-yourself?

Will US and Canadain customs allow a rental car to be used for landing (like
if we rent a SUV to move our stuff)?

Will US and Canadian customs allow us to drive a U-Haul, etc. thru to Canada
containing our stuff?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks.

I used ABF (UPack -- http://www.upack.com/)

You pack the truck, they drive it to Canada. You don't pay for gaz like you
would with u-haul.
UPack moved my wife's stuff from south Texas to Montreal for $1,700 US. The
truck stayed in Montreal until we got custom clearance. So yes, they will
cross into Canada, as long as the owner of the stuff as a valid status in
Canada.

I used Budget Rent A Truck because it was cheaper than U-Haul.
Since I live near the border I simply drove it across, (no problem
with customs at all, most helpful) and then drove it back to the US
and dropped it at the closest US drop off point.
