Banking jobs in Canada - Andrew
Dear Andrew,
I am in Argentina now and recently received a question on Banking Jobs for highly experienced Bankers in special assets (low quality portfolio) in Latin American Countries; there are many Canadian Banks investing in Latin America. I didn´t know what to say because I left Toronto many years ago and don´t work in Banking. Got any idea on the issue?
Lots of Argentines have European Passports due to the tremendous Italian Immigration they received in the last century; Italian Embassies all over South America will avoid issuing new passports for "Euro-Argentines" for 2 years because they recently received about 2 million requests for new passports. Many people are heading into Canada and the US. What do you think on the Banking issue. Argentine Bankers seem to be really prepared, most of them have Masters Degrees from UK Universities, good experience and are fluent in English.
Thanks a lot.

Not to be mean or anything, but aren't Argentinian bankers responsable for
the mess that the country is in now?

No they are not responsible for the mess; that was the government´s responsibility. Argentine bankers cannot share any guilt with what happened with the Country´s international reserves managed by the Finance Minister.

It will be difficult because Canadian employers in general like to hire people with “Canadian experience.
I am Canadian and working in the financial services field in the US. I have both Canadian and US experience (the latter is looked upon favorably as well) and I am having a difficult time landing something in Toronto.
Financial services is dead right now. I expect things to get a lot worse with outsourcing picking up steam.

Yeath, the just took my dollars (I had deposited dollars, not pesos), and
after that they give me back devaluated pesos.
Of course, they did the same with the all the accounts, not only mine.
Surely they are very trusthworty...
