Default Back from HKG with visa stamped, a minor problem is there.

Hello experts (esp. Andrew/Jim/James/Ashok/)

First of all, thanks very much for your invaluable contribution to
this forum and needless to mention that you guyz are helping a lot to
all members.

Next, I'm pleased to inform you that I'm back from HKG with the visa
stamped and Confirmation of Permanent Residence. Before leaving the
consulate I checked the names, DOB and other information very
carefully and everything found OK. But while I was on my way back
home, I was taking a look on the papers siting in the plane and
discovered a small typo in the "Place of Birth" column of my spouse's
CPR. It was marked as "GCOPALGANJ" but it should be "GOPALGANJ" only a
"C" has been mistakenly printed between the word "G" and "O".

What can I do at this moment. Should I notify the CHC, HKG now. How
can get it corrected. Would appreciate your guideline.

Best Regards
Naser

Relax, such errors are commonplace. You can mention it at the border when
you land and it will be corrected. And congratulations too!

Congratulations. Hope soon you will be entering next phase.
I will miss you.

It is funny! I am changing job and my new job requires me to visit Bangladesh/Pakistan & Srilanka with India base.

It seems Canada is jacking up intake of technical sales people. I am just that. I may be selected sooner than I thought. Let us see how it goes.

Hello Naser,

I also applied from Hong Kong. I sent my medical and landing fee this week.

I am just wondering how long it will take to complete this process, any idea?

Do CHC Hong Kong always call in person for stamping? It's not possible by post.

I am Indian citizen, living in USA.

Thanks

My line is Speciality products sales and onsite application of technology related to Oil field/ Crude oil Refinery & Petrochemical Industry.
Originally I started upstream from Oil production stage.

Now I am trying to move further donstream , I plan to add knowledge of Optical polymers and additives to finished petrochemicals.

This industry is growing in this part of the world.
Korea / Japan & Singapore / Hongkong and ofcourse Mainland China / Taiwan etc. are good users.

India is graduating to product development stage. Perhaps 5 year down the line , you will find original molecules from India.

Always ahead in race is GE. They have a huge R&D centre for product application, Near Delhi.

I hope it explains me. 8$/hr Burger flipping in Canada scares me, but let us see, I have certain dream , I want to start bussiness from CANADA.!!

I believe you are in Computers. Good news is GE announcing R&D centre with around 300 scientists in Banglore.

India is expected to take a plunge in R&D outsourcing ultimate Goal is Defence research outsourcing.
Call centre outsourcing will be over in next 10 years , when most of the people will talk directly with intelligent machines.

GE is already negotiating sales of its first Indian call centre!!
I am sensing winds of change. So I have to shift gears as well as tracks.

Ashok --

I don't know much about that field, but my gut feel is that you stand a
great chance of finding jobs in your field in Alberta.
As you know, Alberta has a lot of oil and gas industry.
I am sure your international experience will weigh in your favour.

And you are also right about the call center industry in India.
I don't see it continuing much after 5 years or so.
By then I think it would have served its purpose of bringing foreign capital
(and exchange) into the country.
For the youth in the country, it is not a very good career choice - there is
practically no career in it !
But a lot of yougsters fresh out of college make some good bucks in it
before moving on to their real fields or help pay for higher studies.
That is what we really need !

Another field that is picking up a lot is bio medicals.
I understand that there is a lot of demand for bio med engineers in Canada
too, although I have no personal experience of it.

I am not so sure about the defense research outsourcing.
There is already a backlash in several countries about outsourcing,
especially medical and tax records, so the govt. will come under a lot of
political pressure not to outsource defense research.
We'll see....

Hope things work out with your application soon.

Hi Rahul,

- If your background check is fine by this time it won't take more
than two months to receive the invitation letter for visa pick up

- Yes, you will have to be physically present in CHC, HKG to pick up
your visa.

- Yes, you will also need to go to HKG from USA to pick up your visa.
If you need any travelling advice to HKG, please let me know.

Hi Ashok,

Thanks for your message. It's really funny, I'm leaving Bangladesh and
you will be coming here. Probably, I won't get the chance to meet you
here but hope I see you in Canada.

By the way, did your son got admission in Canada for study purpose
which you were planning for.

Hi Naser Bhai,

I had also applied to HongKong from Bangladesh on march 2003. I got interview waived, finished medical and paid RPRF on january 2004.
How long I have to wait? Do I have to go to Hongkong for VISA?is there any other alternate way, I heared sometimes they just mail visa documents.

take care.

Hi Anis, my brother,

Actually, it will depend on completion of your background check. It
was supposedly initiated when the waiver notice was issued. If it is
fine by this time you will get the invitation letter for visa pick up
soon.

Yes, you will need to go to HKG to pick up visa. Each visa office has
some of their own regulations. For CHC, HKG you will need to be there.

Naser Bhai,

Thanks for information. I got medical papers and landing fee request. I was in impression if they asking for landing fee it mean that they have done all the security/background check?
I already submitted FBI and PCC check many times.

I am Indian citizen. I think I do not need HKG visa for 1-week visit, so what papers are required for entering in HKG?

I would appreciate any good ideas for HKG staying, travel/food cost in the city?
How many days are sufficient to stay there, in consider that embassy may ask to stay 1 more day for some reason?

Thanks,
Rahul
