Default Avoid this Doctor for Medicals in Atlanta

Hi,

I did my medicals in October with Dr. John Wolff in Atlanta.
My experience is very bad with him. His staff is very rude and till today he hasn't send my medicals to CIC... though Charged 370$ for medicals...
What should I do ? I was not given any tracking no. despite my asking him for umpteen times.
Everytime I ask they say we are busy..will send it this week ??

Is there any place where we can complain about such doctors ?
I am really fed up in dealing with his staff. ...

I send all other docs to CIC in time, my interview was waived and I was expecting my landing in Jan......now everything is screwed up because of his delaying my medicals to CIC.......

what to do?

Gail --

I went to the same doctor in Atlanta as well.
I know exactly what is happening to you.
I went thru the exact same thing back in May this year.
Search the archives of this group on Google to read my experience with this
doctor.

Basically the problem is not Dr. Wolff himself, but the front-office nurse.
I found Dr. Wolff to be very nice and cooperative.
The problem is that he has only one staff member - the nurse who also plays
the front-office assisstant.
Dr. Wolff relies on her for everything and she is really no good.

Unless you are extremely carefull, she can end-up screwing up your case
forever.
Believe me, there is a serious risk that she may not ever send your
medicals, or may end-up screwing the package in such a way that Ottawa will
not be able to tie it back to your file.

How long has it been since your medical?
If calling is not getting you anywhere, go to their office.
The doctor usually gets there by about 9:30.
Demand to speak to the doctor.
Don't allow her to turn you away.
Say that you will now speak only to the doctor.
There will be a few patients around - I am sure she will not allow you to
create a ruckus in front of prospective patients.

Did you pay by credit card?
That is another weapon you can use.
Tell them that unless the medicals are sent right away and you are given the
tracking number, you will dispute the charge with the CC.

If you can speak to the doctor, I am sure everything will get resolved
easily - you must get past that nurse.

Also, make sure that the tracking number she gives you is really yours.
She first gave me a tracking number that was someone else's.
Ask her to recheck that the tracking number is really yours.

If you would like to discuss this further, I can discuss this over email.
Send me an email at [email protected] and we can talk more.
If you are in Atlanta, I can discuss over the phone.
Let me know.

Webcrawler -

You are right.
His front office nurse is the culprit. She is very rude .

Its almost 3 months now when I did the medicals .

I am planning to go to Doc's office next week and shout at him - demanding my money and the IMM-1017 form back.

I did pay by credit card and its already been charged ( 3months have passed)

Let me know.

Gail--

Most CC companies allow 60 days to dispute a charge.
Sounds like you may not have that option any more.
Still, speak to your CC supervisor.
You should not dispute it yet - just find out your options.

3 months is a very long time and the longer it gets, the more difficult it
is going to be.
You ought to have raised a ruckus long time back.
In my case, after 2 weeks had passed and she had not sent it, I kept calling
her every day.
To get rid of me, she gave me a tracking number.
I found out that it was not my report.

I called again and kept at it.
Finally she sent it after about 3 weeks and gave me the right tracking
number.

All is not lost yet.
Go to the Dr. office but do not get rude with him.
If you piss him off, then you can really screw your case.

Be firm with the nurse - tell her that you must speak to the doctor himself.
Don't let her turn you away - tell her that you are willing to wait all day
long if the doctor is busy.
Don't go early in the morning like 8:00 because no other patients will be
there.
Go at around 9:30 because the doctor will be there, and other patients will
be there too.
Don't go away - bring your lunch and sit in front of the glass window and
make sure Dr. Wolff sees you.

Here is another strategy - tell her that you have spoken to your immigration
lawyer and he is insisting that you speak to the doctor.
Tell her that your attorney needs the tracking number.

I am sure you will get a chance to speak to the doctor.
Be very polite, be very courteous, but firm.
Tell him that you need to know where your reports are and why they haven't
been sent yet.
Tell him that you need it done that very day.

See what happens.

Please report back what happens - there are a lot of people in GA who have
to go to Dr. Wolff because the other DMP in Columbus is not doing this
anymore.
Your experience will help others.

Best wishes.

Sure.
That will be a good idea.
Any professional should appreciate feedback from customers.

But I suspect that is not your point.

After hearing from your case , I am a bit in a puzzle , if she gave me someone else tracing number as in yours case .

Henry --

I suspected it based on the date and time of shipment and whatever else she
was telling me.
I kept calling her for several days and she said that the reports haven't
come in.
Then one day she said that she has mailed the package and gave me the
tracking number.
When I tracked it on the FedEx website, it showed the date/time of shipping
*before* the date she said my reports came in.
So either she was lying about the date my reports came in or the number was
wrong.

When I called her again and told her this, she retracted her statements and
admitted that she had made a mistake with the tracking number.
She admitted that she had not yet sent the reports but was going to do so
right then and gave me the number of the package she was going to send.

The next morning I found that the package had been picked up by FedEx and
was on its way.

I think it wasn't a mistake - just sheer incompetence.

Maybe she loves us immigrants so much that she hates to see us leave the US
and go to Canada )

Default Re: Avoid this Doctor for Medicals in Atlanta

Thank you, gail2003 and WebCrawler for the information about Dr. Wolff. I am
currently in Atlanta, GA and still it's early in my application process, but
your feedback is very helpful. If his office does not do a good job, would
you suggest to go to another state / another Dr. for the medicals?

Thanks.

gail2003 is an unknown quantity at this point
Default Re: Avoid this Doctor for Medicals in Atlanta

I would suggest to go to another doctor unless you want to delay the medicals.

Yes, sure.
You can go to any registered DMP anywhere in the world.
Get the latest list from CIC's website.
There is another doctor listed in GA, but I found out by calling that he
doesn't do Canada medicals anymore.
Nearest would be ones in FL or AL.

Ask around in this and other groups.
I am sure there are lots and lots of people using nearby doctors.

Default Re: Avoid this Doctor for Medicals in Atlanta

Hi Atlantans,

I got my medical done with Dr. Wolff in Atlanta in August and e-file
still says "In process". Can anyone who had their medicals done around
that time, and were able to confirm their report reaching Ontario
respond to me. And how did you confirm it?

Hi,

Why dont we all, those who want to confirm if the reports were sent by
Dr. Wolff go to his office together! that way we can get our purpose
fulfilled and make an impact on him.

{I tried to post a reply on british expats, but i am having a hard
time to register. Can you add others from atlanta you know are in the
same situation when you reply to this message.}

Salah --

Ask the doctor for the package tracking number.
He sends the reports by FedEx usually and should be able to give you the
tracking number.
Based on my experience with them, and the recent posts, there is no
guarantee that his office has actually sent the medicals.
They may still be with him.

gail2003 is an unknown quantity at this point
Default Re: Avoid this Doctor for Medicals in Atlanta

We should also write and call CIC, buffalo since they are the ones who recommend this Doctor in Atlanta (in the DMP brochure ). We should not have to pay for his screw ups. Plus, we should include all the expenses and hardship we have suffered due to this.
CIC should do a better job screening their doctors.

I am definitely sending a letter to CIC to remove this doctor from their list.
