My situation is as follows:
I have a Beng University Degree: claim 20 points
Native English Speaker: claim 16 points
Basic French (Speak,Listen): claim 2 points
Work Experience (7 years) claim 21 points
Age 29: claim 10 points
I am single with no pre-arranged work so I get zero for what is left.
Gives me a grand total of 69.
I am brushing up on my French and am confident of passing a Language Test for Moderate proficiency in all 4 language categories in about 6 months.
I am also an MCSE (NT4 and 2000 track) - not sure if this is considered a trade certificate.
I am also considering Teacher Training (starting in Sept 2003) which is a 1 year training course. Mostly to help improve my chances of finding work (considering IT candidates are in plentiful supply and the jobs are not)
From what I know at this point, I need Moderate French to qualify for 75 points. Can I apply for PR now saying I have moderate French and take the language test some 6 months later. At what point do I have to provide proof of my non-native language.
Secondly, some friends of mine are also applying for PR and are considering approaching HRDC to grant me a work permit as a live in caregiver for their child. I do not meet the criteria (eg. 12 months full-time experience or training), however, they want someone who speaks the mother tongue (Gujerati) and someone who has the cultural background to them. Would HRDC grant a work permit in this situation.
At best, I could do a course in child care as an evening course before Teacher Training began but I am not sure if this would be sufficient.
As you can see, I am trying all avenues (short of marrying a Canadian) to give myself a fai chance of PR in Canada so any advice would be very welcome.
