Default Applying for Visitor Visa while waiting for PR

I have applied for PR through common-law Outland and am currently waiting for Sponsor Approval.

My current work permit, which is a closed work permit for my current employer (not IEC) is due to expire at the end of next month. After that I will be staying as a visitor and not working until I get PR.

Because I have an employer specific work permit and not an IEC visa, will I have implied status as a visitor once the work permit expires? or do I need to apply for a visitor visa?

If I do need to apply for a visitor visa does this require going to the border to flag pole?

Thanks!

You need to apply for a change of status to visitor - you can do this online, just show that you have an application for spousal PR in place for the reason.

You will have implied status as a visitor as long as you apply to extend/change before your current status expires. Make the application online and pay the $100 rather than going to the border.
