Applying for PR, but not a 'skilled' worker
Hello, i am currently on my second working holiday visa since arriving in April 2012 and in May i will have to return home to the UK. I am very passionate about staying in Canada for longer (if not forever)
I have noticed that my current job as a bartender/supervisor does not come under the skilled work applications (i expected this).
I was just wondering if anybody has had a similar situation where they found a way that they could still apply for PR, but not necessarily through a skilled occupation, any information would help.
Thanks in advance.

Which Province are you currently living and working in? Some Provinces have a semi-skilled worker stream, some also have a stream for those in the service industry.

Currently in Toronto, Ontario.

Ontario doesn't have a semi-skilled stream unfortunately, so your only choices for employment based PR would be to get a different job or to move provinces to one that does.
Or do you have another route to PR i.e. a Canadian partner?

I don't have a Canadian partner right now. Does B.C have a semi-skilled stream?

Yes it does, and bartenders are a qualifying occupation, but you couldn't apply until you've worked there for at least 9 months so you'd need to get there ASAP!

Is there a list i can access to see what jobs i would need to apply for to stay in Ontario? That seems my most realistic right now.
Thank you very much for all your help as well, very much appreciated.

So i have booked an appointment with an employment agency for next week to discuss job opportunities, although going for 'skilled' jobs, or jobs in categories A, B, or C seems unrealistic as i have always worked in hospitality and have no 'official' degrees etc. Either way, won;t go down without a fight
I assume work sponsorship is out of the question also?

I used to work as an electrician a few years back, would that help? I worked at a family friends company for about 18 months, i was never officially qualified though.

I think you would need to have a certain amount of hours time served and you would need to challenge the red seal which is the certification for some trades out in Canada.
