Applying for immigration from India
Hi,
One of my friends wishes to apply for immigration to Canada in the
skilled workers category. He is a software professional working in
India. Is the Canadian consulate processing applications from India,
and how long is it taking?
Thanks,
Vikky

Hi vikky,
The CIC at New Delhi processes immigration applications for almost all
categories. The average time taken for processing from New Delhi is
around 24-36 months. But with the new rules and regulations, there is
a hope that the waiting period would reduce.

Hi,
I dont want to disappoint you. But I have applied from US in 2002.
Still have not received any assesment. Yes, there was a rumour that
when the processing of files for the 2002 with the new pointing
system will begin it would speed up the process. Unfortunately nothing
as such has happened but it has delayed the process further. It is now
taking two and a half to three year where it used to take nine months
to a year. In India it used to take 3 years initially now that too
must have delayed.... ..you can calculate the delay. Last year there
was delay in India further due to closing of embassies...due to the
threat of war between the months of May,June.
My friend has applied for Australia from India that due to this reason
it has been delayed for a year than the regular time....so
calculate....
Best of luck..time is no constraint....apply....if you want to go to
any country

hi,
the buffalo office is processing appln recd before 31.12.01 and sending out the interview letters. they now take around 12 months for initial processing.
considering India, it is still a lot faster since appln submitted in India in early 2001 have not recd any assessment letters so far.
you must have alot of time and patience to apply from india
bye
