ANYONE HELP? Passport lost in the mail.
Hello. Well, it seems that my bf's passport is officially lost in the
mail somewhere between London CHC and South Africa (where he lives). I
am wondering if ANYONE has any experience with this happening to them.
If so, what happened? How was it rectified? What hoops did you have to
jump thru in order to get a replacement in time (before it expires)???
Someone, ANYONE, please respond with your experience if this has
happened to you.
thank you sincerely,
GWNN

Re: ANYONE HELP? Passport lost in the mail.
He should start with filing a lost passport report with the passport
authorities in RSA assumng he is a citizen. He should also report situation
to Canadain Embassy in Pretoria as they will want to put a notice out about
lost visa in passport to preven someone else using it if it has not already
been used. He should also notify London CHC. Obtain copies of RM reports.
Apply for a new passport and ask London for a replacement visa and send them
copies of all aforementioned reports. Next light many candles in church and
pray that the next visa is delivered in time.
Good Luck Girlwithnoname.

Re: ANYONE HELP? Passport lost in the mail.
thank you very much Mr. Metcalfe. I assume by your response that the London CHC
WILL provide a replacement if all necessary forms are sent to them. I've been
terrified that they will say 'too bad, you are out of luck'.
comments?
thanks again

Re: ANYONE HELP? Passport lost in the mail.
Passports are lost not infrequently and provided that you document your
efforts and actions there should be no reason for them to deny a
replacement. Thier big conceren will be that the paspsort and visa do not
fall into the wrong hands.
