Please let me know how long did it take to get your passport request after your medicals.

Applied - Nov 2001 from Buffalo
Got initial assessment - Dec 2002
Added spouse to file feb 2003
did medicals in may 2003 - after 6 months wait

waiting .. waiting since then for the passport request, which I think will be longer than expected coz I added my spouse later in the application

Thanks a lot for your reply.

Here is my timeline.

Applied - Sept. 2001
Got File number - Dec. 2002
Interview-Sept. 2003
Medicals - Sept. 2003

And still waiting for the passport request. As it seems for the Iranian the security check is never less than 6 months. Though at the time of interview, I was told that I can get my visa before the end of the year!

I would be so happy to learn about any news you have about this prolonged security checks.

I have no news in particular about the prolonged security checks
but I am sure its the check that is taking all the time. I have been told its closer to 1 yr and it also depends which other countries you have lived in. The checks generally start after the initial assessment is done.

I would assume for males the background check is a bit more detailed.

A few more days left to the end of the year. so be hopeful !

Would appreciate if you can let me know when you hear from them. Can you please share your post of application and interview?

Hello again,

Well, before anything, I need to ask a question, what do you mean by the initial assessment? Do you mean that background check stars from the time we receive our file number?

And for sure I will let you know as soon as I hear from the embassy. But it is interesting that today I contacted them and they told me that the verfication is not complete yet and I have to wait till the end of Jan. 2004 !! I am really confused as at the time of interview was told that only security check is left and now they say verfication of my file,,!!! I believe they just give different answers each and every time I reach them to make an excuse for their delay!

Anyway, I applied from London and my interview also was there. And I believe one of the reasons my security check is prolonged is because of the fact that they have to check it in UK as well as Iran. But what bothers me is why the officer in my interview assured me that in less than 2 months and before the end of the year I shall be able to receive my visa,, !!!

We have applied to London in September 2001.
We have done our meds. in Nov. 2003 and now waiting.
In their letter it was said that I should alow 4 months for processing.
