Myself and wife applied six months ago, and have just completed our medicals. We have
been told to expect to wait another 3 months from this point before we hear anything
else (which should hopefully be send in your passports).
So I guess 9 months to 1 year seems to be about right if you get your
interview wavered.
The problem comes if your points are borderline and thus you need to attend an
interview. At the recent immigration fare in UK, we were told by the Canadian
consulate you could wait upto an additional year if an interview as there is a big
waiting list for this.
Cheers

Any experience in London.....
I moved to Toronto in October last year.
Application went in November 1999, interview July 2000,(my points were borderline).
Medicals completed same month.
I received my landing papers September 1st 2000.
There is no "sending passports in", your papers are sent to you.

Wow, sounds like you were lucky, or the queue was smaller then. We are in the middle
of applying, and are application which sofar has been quite straight forward, will
take longer than yours without an interview (we are nearly upto 9 months already). I
checked with by wife and the lady at the immigration fare said people are waiting for
interviews between 1 year and 18 months. If there's anyone out there who currently is
having a different experience on these timelines pls speak up.
As for the Visa, my Australian residency Visa was stuck into my passport. However,
it's good to know this isn't the case for Canada because I want to go on Holiday this
year, and don't fancy sending off my passport to the consulate before hand.

London experience
I have no idea how they work the process, it seems to be different for each case.
I have some friends who have just immigrated to Calgary, their application took less time than ours even.
They applied November 2000, got notification that they had waived interview status in March 2001, they completed the medicals in April and got their papers at the end of May 2001!
There doesn't seem to be any logic in it!
Steve.

Hi,
Landing papers are a set of visa papers they send you. You dont need to send in
your passport.
My timeline so far: applied 09/00 AOR 12/00 Interview required 02/01 No news
since then
Comp programmer, applied from UAE to London CHC.
