The ICCRC licensing requirements are quite tough. The diploma is a PG qualification and then there are various requirements to sit the exam after, including an English test (IELTS Academic or MELAB or choice of a couple of others), Police certs and various other things. You have to be a PR or a CC (I know you are).

I had a quick gander through OP's previous posts: it's a PR card renewal we're talking about.

That's what I thought. It's gone to secondary review and so is likely to be delayed somewhat ... quite a long time ... ages probably.

The OP needs to make alternative plans.

I was joking, sort of. But yeah I know its pretty difficult.

Yeah, what they'll need to do unfortunately is travel to their destination then immediately go to the Canadian embassy for a PRTD. It can be processed same day if you apply in person at the embassy iirc.

Meanwhile get in touch with their MP and make noise about how long it is taking!

What could be the reasons for secondary review - is this due to security or criminality or what?

I'm just interested as I'm wondering if this is why mine might be delayed.

Would GCMS notes say this? This might be helpful to the OP!

You are getting confused I think Becki.

You are referring to your application for Permanent Residence. What you are experiencing is something quite different (although it is still a delay).

The OP is referring to a renewal of the PR card. Secondary review is usually concerned with matters like ensuring the residency obligation has been met, AFAIK.

Oh ok. Thanks for clarifying

Wow that's crazy! You still have ridiculous timelines for a PR card

Ridiculous. We accept 6 months as "normal" for a renewal. Six weeks would be too long. How hard is it really to check that someone meets the RO?
It really shouldn't take longer than 3 weeks. Like a passport.

+1.

A PR card renewal application can be sent on to secondary review for other reasons than RO verification; including but not limited to simply drawing the short straw and being the application which gets audited .

It's rare, however, & I certainly wouldn't be worried about it before getting COPR & my first PR card .

yeah I know. It would be nice to get a rough estimate from CIC as to when this wonderful and magical day will occur but like everyone who has been through this, I just wait it out

LOL, again with your shenanigans. Since your inherent point is "well why are you complaining, you're a citizen" - so because i've had the accident of birth here I can't have an opinion on immigration matters of this country? If you're going to argue that you are shooting yourself in the foot because some would respond with "Well, I was born here and I have the right to vote so I damn well should have an opinion on immigration procedures, you're an immigrant and you don't so shut up or sod off!" - this one happens to be in your favour (why wouldn't you want faster processing on your PR card renewal?) so I really don't understand what your problem is.

The ignore button is there for a reason. If you seem to take issue with everything I post, then use it.
