Hi - re-post this question in the 'Immigration' section for Canada - they will point you in the right direction. Good luck

My Canadian wife sponsored me but wasn't with me when I arrived in Canada. She flew ahead of me by a couple of days so I did the landing process at immigration on my own with my daughter.

You've got your immigration visa in your passport right? You're also the principle applicant sponsored by your wife? I'm no expert but it didn't concern me at all and I'm a worrier! . Immigration has no interest in your Canadian spouse being there when you land because all of the paperwork is about you. For me it all went very smoothly with no awkward questions whatsoever.

My husband (a Canadian citizen) had to sponsor me from here.....this was back the 80's when we came here the first time. I arrived three months later with our daughter, who was 3 years old at that time. I went through Immigration at Toronto airport when we arrived, and that was that.....no awkward questions; I seem to remember such things as Child Allowance (or whatever it's called now) and SIN being arranged at Immigration - but that may be different now. Hubby met us and away we went.
It's quite common for families to arrive here separately - don't worry.
