Default Advice leaving the UK for Canada

My husband and I are seriously considering moving from the UK to Canada, but where do we start? We have capital in our home, we are both late 30's, no children, we have average jobs. But where do we start? Is it difficult to apply for residency in Canada? Any initial advice or anyone who has done the move successfully or not please let me know.

thanks
Dobie

The first place to start your research should always be the official website
of Canadian Immigration here:

www.cic.gc.ca

You'll find there basic info about immigration and rules as well if you have
a chance to qualify for it. If you have further questions after reviewing
CIC website you may always post them here or you may contact me directly for
free evaluation of your chances and options.

As much as we'd like to have you, forget it, save yourself a headache. This
country stopped taking educated westerners for quite some time now. If your
not Asian , Mideastern or from the poorest counties in Africa you'll just
get the run around.

Go to Canada High Commision near Bond Street station, London. (38
Grosvenor Street,W1X OAA).
take a lastest "Canada News", and ask for a "self assessment guide
for skilled worker"(they will send to you by post).
Go through to guide and see how many points you can get.
There are also Immigration shows, you can talk to immigration oficers
in the immigration show, very useful. I went to Sandown show in 2001.
If you don't like to collect information and prepare everything by
yourself, you can also ask for professional help. I completed my
immigration with SIScanada, god service, just for peace of mind.
Good luck!

You seem like the »RIGHT« kind of immigrants this country needs. More
Brits should immigrate to this country. People from England, Scotland,
Ireland and from all over Europe should jump ahead of the queue !
I suggest you start making kids for our common good !

Immigration to the Province of Quebec: With a minimun knowledge of the
French you could score big points with immigration officers. People
with some knowledge of French are giving priority over others.
Montreal is a beautiful city to live in. Forget about Toronto ! And
stay away from the province of Alberta if you support Labour Party
policies !

er please dont listen to this idiot. Making a move to Canada is not easy
(applying is pretty easy, its getting setup once your here, but if your
single and have some bread...

The independent skills category has changed a bit since I last applied, but
you should still be able to qualify if you have qualifications and work
history in a job thats on the list. (theres a lot of them).

Canada is a lovely country and has half the population of the UK so good
luck with your application if you go ahead.

If you are confident doing the application yourself then best do it it will
save you a few pounds rather than using a consultant. Its not that hard to
do if you are through, can present documentation in a presentable way and
are patient. (Last is the most important).

Hi there,
I have been looking at emmigrating for the last 2 years, we are both UK English and started with the government site :
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/index.html
When we first looked at the process the pass mark was 70 (Nov 2001).
Im 34 and work for Air Canada as a mechanic at Heathrow and my wife is 29 and a Primary School teacher with 5 years experience and a 2 year degree.
We wanted to wait until we were married until will applied so we could apply together to give us more points.
Anyway we now have used the points calculator on the official website and can only get 74 points, the pass mark before we were married was 70.
Is it worth us applying or are we just wasting our money and clogging up the system for everyone else?
Its so frustrating as we are in a similar position to you in that we are selling our house in london in the next 3 weeks and have a very large capital. We are in a position to go now but cant due to the points situation.
We also have friends in Ottawa who have offered to sponsor us but cant due to the fact they arent blood related.

We are now hoping for a "Assisted Program" for Teachers as there is a looming teacher shortage in Canada, when that comes we will be 1st in the queue.
The are currently doing a Assisted program for Staff Nurses and caregivers and i belive policemen.

http://www.immigration-service.com/

Check back here frequently to see whats going on and monitor the timelines that are submited from the Uk office.

Good luck with your task.

Your such an ass&%*#, its people like you who need to be kept out of Canada.

The points system has become more tuff. Only the best get in now. No one gives a rats ass if you are from England or Scotland You still have to be the best to get in and not a lazy bullshitter like you.

Educated Westerners .. thats kind of a hard combination .. i thought white people were busy trying to spread hatered that learn somehting...

Asians Mideasterns or poorest countries in Africa...
I wonder who actually plundered all their wealth and became rich ..
I think the westerners should be bumped to the bottom as they have kind of become redundant other than in the prostitution business...
