Default Address on application for PR

Hi all,

I have been following this forum for quiet some time and I am
impressed with the great deal of help one can expect from others
except for very few messages.

On similar lines I have a question about my Bro's application for
permanent residency in Canada in Federal Skilled Workers category
@Toronto. I am currently in the US (CA) since my bro is visiting (from
Bangladesh) me for few weeks in next two weeks, I was wondering if he
can put US address in his application.

Any help from any quaters is welcome. Andrew Miller, if you have time
to respond to this one, that would be a huge favor to me.

Thanks and HAPPY NEW YEAR to all.

Your brother will have to apply from his home country unless he is admitted
to the USA for at least one year.

First - your brother cannot apply "@ Toronto" - as national and
resident of Bangladesh he must apply through CHC Singapore. It is where he
resides or what country nationality he has what counts. Skilled Workers
class applicants cannot apply in Canada and your brother cannot apply
through Buffalo either as he is only visiting US, he has not been admitted
to US for at least 12 months.

Second - mailing address can be anywhere as long as it is reliable.

Third - I have already answered your question yesterday, pay attention to
replies please.

Thanks Jim and Andrew. The reason I had asked for US address was due
to the fact that apps from US are processed faster as compared to
Bangladesh. It seems it takes 66 weeks from a US based app and the
same from Bangladesh takes >3 years. I dunno I may be wrong with this
kind of info but thats what I was told by some consultants based in
Canada.

Thanks again appreciate that.

Consultants you asked were wrong or you didn't tell them the whole story. It
is not about "from US based applications" - it is were application can be
submitted. Americans as well as those lawfully admitted to US for at least
12 months can apply through Buffalo - your brother cannot.

And 66 weeks processing time is a myth. Currently applicants who applied
through Buffalo in the second half of 2001 and got interview waiver are
getting their visas, those with interview required still have long way to
go.

And we knew why you asked - this is why Jim and myself explained to you that
your brother cannot apply through Buffalo. He must apply through Singapore.
Putting US mailing address in the application won't make any difference as
far as processing time goes - whoever told you that it will speed up
anything has no idea about the process.
