Dear experts and newsgroup readers, here is my problem:

June 2001 - My husband and I had an interview July - did our medicals September - I
received a letter from the Embassy (Overseas Medical Services) in which they asked
for some additional test to be done. October - I did that additional tests required -
they asked for additional X-rays of my spine (Lordotic view) January - I received
AGAIN the letter from the Embassy (Overseas Medical Services) and AGAIN they ask for
some additional medical information!

Now, my questions are:
1. can I go to another doctor (DMP, of course) or it has to be the same one again ?
In the letter says: "we have enclosed a letter of instructions for the DMP who
examined you and/or your dependant(s)."
2. what if they ask for some more medical information again and again? What will
happen if my husband's and my basic medicals expire before they decide about my
medical condition?
3. is there a time limit for their decision?
4. if they find something wrong in my results, would they inform me about it, or I
will be just refused without any further information?

This is delaying our immigration so much, and I would really like to know if there is
something wrong with me, since I'm 25, in perfect health, and I if I am at a high
risk of getting any illness, I think I deserve to know about it (regardless of
immigration process!!!).

I would appreciate any input on this matter. Suzana

Hi:

In reply:

1. You must go to the same DMP.

2. If CIC requests additional tests you must take them.

3. There is no time limit for their decision.

4. If the visa officer intends to refuse an applicant on medical grounds, the
applicant should be notified in writing that the applicant has 60 days to
submit new medical information to the Designated Medical Practitioner who in
turn is requested to forward it with any comments to the medical officer. The
DMP will either:

5. confirm the original medical profile,
6. provide a different medical profile indicating that the applicant is not
inadmissible, or
7. require a new medical examination.
