about learning french in uk?

hello ,
i want ask you that i am thinking of learning french....can someone please explain me that after learning french what test i can take to prove my command on french in UK(like we have to take IELTS to prove our english) ? and last thing is learning french is hard? cheers

You will have to sit the TEF which can be taken at some of the Alliance Francaise throughout the UK.

I did French at school, but out here it seems to be a different dialect and some junked out slangy stuff. When I worked on a gas bar on the Trans Canada hgwy I found it quite difficult to understand some of it. My French teacher was 100% Frenchman from Paris. but it has helped me quite a few times and it is worth learning.

I don't speak French. My wife and stepkids are Quebec French.
It's different.
I did French at school. Whenever I try it they giggle (or think it's cute), especially when the 'French' French pronunciation differs from Quebec pronunciation.
I'd love to see the reaction to their French in France.
Revenge would be mine.
