5-10 months??? really???
I am an American being sponsored as a conjugal partner by my Canadian
boyfriend. He was approved for sponsorship about 3 weeks after we sent our
application in. About 3 weeks after that (last week), I got a letter stating
that my application had been received and that two things could happen.
1) If I had to be interviewed, they would schedule it 6-8 months from when they
got my application.
or
2) If I don't have to be interviewed, the approval process would take 5-10
months from when they got my application.
I have been incredibly naive about how long this would take, but remain hopeful
that they grossly overestimate so they aren't constantly bothered with update
requests. Is there anyone out there who has been in my situation and has a
clue whether or not this is REALLY going to take 5-10 months????
Thanks!

I am sorry to advise that their estimate may ne at best only a month or so
pessimistic. You could of course, go to Canada and await most of the
processing their with him.

A month or so which way??? Am I looking at a year or 6 months?
Also, how is it determined whether or not I will have to have an interview?
Thanks for the (bad) news!

Most visa posts try and process a spousal type sponsorship within 6 months,
so add on to that the time at CPC Mississauga which for you was only another
month and you are looking at around 7 there. then you have to factor in
delays and sthe like.
In truth its impossible to say, sometimes they do them really quickly like i
had a friend whos was done in only a few months but that was before all the
delays from the new law and retraining etc, CHC London have had mine for 3
months yesterday and i havent even got the medical papers yet. So yes it can
be a long process.
An interview for a spousal case is very rare especially coming from the USA,
they normally do them if they suspect the relationship to be fake and for
immigration purposes, but its rare an American or Canadian would fake a
relationship to immigrate to either country, normally interviews are more
common if you are comming from a country where fraud is more widespread.
