Dear Mr. Cohen / Mr. Miller,

The new rule, which will be applicable from June 28th, does this mean that any person
who will be moving to canada after this date will have to live there for 2 years(730
days) out of first 5 years before he can apply for citizenship. Thanks

No. New Immigration Act has nothing to do with the citizenship eligibility as it
governs only immigration matters. Citizenship Act is the law governing all
citizenship matters and it still requires accumulation of at least 1,095 days of
residence in Canada within 4 years prior to citizenship application.

The rules governing citizenship are not affected by the June 28th implementation of
Bill C11. The 2 out of 5 year rule will apply to maintaining permanent resident
status in Canada.
