I've just been notified by my local council that I have been reinstated on to the electoral role at my location and will be able to vote in the EU elections.
It seems that at least Hungary is assuming that the EU elections will take place in the UK despite noises on the UK media that the UK government still hopes to stitch up a deal to avoid them.

On Friday morning I received a reminder from the electoral services officer in our previous UK constituency that our registration expires on July 1. I emailed back to enquire whether we could expect postal ballot papers in sufficient time for a May 23 election. Predictably, no response as yet (he probably just doesn't know!).

You might still have time to register to vote in Hungary if you want to vote here

Thanks Peter. We did receive registration papers back in January.

It could well be down to the local authority, some are very quick with this sort of thing whilst others are lax.

Indeed! Although we have been asked twice in the last 2 weeks to renew our registration (which doesn't expire until July)!

We usually vote by proxy, using my youngest son to do the honours on our behalf. Unfortunately, I left it until the last minute (yesterday afternoon) to e-mail the forms off and he hasn't replied to the forms that have been sent to him and he's now away on holiday so it looks like we won't be voting next week :(

I would be surprised if there is anything new. Seeing as total chaos is coming over the horizon. Still nothing in law about EU citizens rights and how we will be treated reciprocally I suppose. I don't trust the UK government to treat anybody well.
