So, my question didn't prompt anyone so let's vary it a bit

Does anyone know where we can get grass turfs anywhere?

I tried that but only came up with a wholesale company other side of Budapest and some landscape gardening companies.

perhaps I was putting in the wrong thing as I used google translate to give me the Hungarian for grass turf. Do you know precisely what they are called in Hungarian at all?

With the time your search is taking to get responses, and given the amount of rain at the moment perhaps you should just chuck a box of grass seed down!

I've sown seed in some places but despite watering every day we have not had rain, it has not grown. It may be because it was cheap rubbish from OBI.

I just wanted some instant green around the pool and guest house.

Hi Rural, no luck yet. Tried what you said but that didn't bring anything up either. I have a couple of Hungarian people working on it for me so I'll put it on here what happens.

I know seeding is cheaper but I wanted some instant green in certain areas.

Not in Siofok but says it delivers turf.
This one is, I think, in Siofok but a bit more expensive.

Think you did what I did and sowed the grass seed during the hot period, even watering every day didn't help. We're going to try again this week as rain is forecast most days.

I sowed grass seeds 3 weeks ago when I returned and the first tiny blades were up in 4 days, I have just given it it's second very gentle cut and it is thickening very nicely.
It has rained every day or night here for the last week/10 days so have not watered it at all.
I mixed packets of 'sports' and 'anti-drought' seeds, only at the end of the summer will I know if this was a success or not.
