Black mussels in white wine, followed by a steak - yes, Peter, I kept the faith, naturally! Latter washed down by a very nice Kékfrankos.

The other day we had Shepherds Pie with carrots and splashes of Lea & Perrins sauce.

We got mangalica meat (szüszpecsenye) directly from the farm at the Keszthely market last Saturday and had it grilled - almost as good as a bélszin!

My sister-in-law's husband is very much into fishing. He is obsessed with cooking fish so I have to say .... the last time we were in Hungary for Christmas ..... fish was on the menu! He also has a friend who owns a fish farm. We spent a day there. Very interesting. Shortly afterwards my sister-in-law's husband asked me if I was interested to set up something similar. I was tempted but thought who is going to run this on everyday basis. I'm a hands on guy, I have to be involved, especially the finance, if it involves me feeding the fish on Christmas day I will be there! Next few years once we move over will be interesting. Only snag is sister-in-law wants a divorce!

You are talking about Zalaapati I hope?
Congratualtions!
There meat prepared "sous vide" is really good!
Maybe you would also like to try dödölle instead of chips etc as a side dish? They are my favourite!
"Dödölle kötelezö"!
PS:
You might say greetings from Wolf, the owner of Alexa, our late dog. This was also her favourite restaurant and she always got some treats because she was so nice and well behaved. Though we've had a good time with her (a mix of German shepherd and Malinois, born in Hungary) for 16 years we still miss her.

Yes, Zalaapati. We are in Alsőrajk, so it's quite handy. I may try the dödölle, as you recommend.

And it's been 49 years since Brits were allowed to eat from newspapers - & judging by the contents of the British press that's probably a good thing!

I'm 37 and have had it in newspaper? Maybe it was specially bought. This would have been in the 90s though, last time I was in the UK it was white paper. The clean, white paper was much better. I have better uses for the likes of The Sun and The Daily Mail....................
